TULUM 2026 SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAM
Our sustainability plan for Day Zero 2026 builds on our commitment to positively impact both the local environment and community. This year, we're expanding our partnerships with organizations dedicated to marine conservation, renewable energy infrastructure, youth development, and continuing our beach cleanup efforts to remove microplastics.
The festival will source food exclusively from local farms, highlighting the importance of sustainable agriculture, and will remain a 100% plastic-free environment. Read below for more details on these initiatives and the incredible organizations helping to make them happen.
DOS OJOS SOLAR LIGHTING PROJECT
As part of our commitment to improving local infrastructure and community well-being, we supported the donation and installation of 80 solar lights along the road in Dos Ojos. This initiative enhances night-time safety for more than 100 families while promoting the use of clean, renewable energy. The project was carried out in collaboration with local partners, including the Dos Ojos community, Tulum Government, and the Secretaría del Medio Ambiente, strengthening collective efforts toward a safer and more sustainable region.
TURTLE CONSERVATION PROGRAM
This initiative aims to create a positive impact on Tulum's environment and local communities through turtle conservation. By building protective grids for nests and providing safe, educational experiences for children, we promote environmental awareness from an early age. Interviews and guidance from the biologist in charge further strengthen community understanding and involvement in protecting native species.
TITANES MINI VAN
This project supports the athletic and social growth of the Titanes de Tulum children's soccer team, promoting equal opportunities and safe mobility. As part of our commitment to community well-being, the initiative includes acquisition of a 15-passenger van, enabling the team to access trainings, games, and tournaments in a sustainable way. Additionally, the project will strengthen community engagement through activities such as team interactions, interviews with the coach, and a friendly match with the Day Zero staff.
MICROPLASTIC BEACH CLEANING
Day Zero brooms were fabricated for beach cleaning during the past year. In continuing with this effort, Day Zero staff will visit Tulum beach for a microplastic cleaning afternoon, maintaining our commitment to protecting our coastal ecosystems from plastic pollution.
Day Zero market
Each year the Day Zero Market is 100% plastic-free and focuses on organic products from communities and local farms.
